Description of Aldactazide

Aldactazide is a combination of two generic drugs: Hydrochlorothiazide and Spironolactone. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to the class of thiazide diuretics, and Spironolactone is one of the potassium-sparing diuretics. Apart from these two ingredients, the medicine also contains some inactive ingredients including titanium dioxide, povidone, polyethylene glycol, magnesium stearate, iron oxide, hypromellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, corn starch, calcium sulfate and flavor. You can buy Aldactazide in the form of oral tablets, available in 25/25 and 50/50 strengths.

Indications & Dosage of Aldactazide

Aldactazide is used for treating fluid retention or edema in patients suffering from a kidney disorder (nephrotic syndrome), cirrhosis of liver or congestive heart failure. In some cases, this drug can also be used for treating high blood pressure or hypertension. Hydrochlorothiazide works by preventing the patients’ body from absorbing excess salt, and Spironolactone works by keeping potassium levels from becoming too low.

For treating edema, the patients will receive Aldactazide 100mg per day, taken as a single dose or as divided doses. For treating hypertension, you will be advised to take Aldactazide 50mg to 100mg per day.
