Description of Aldara Cream

Aldara Cream is generally used in the treatment of actinic keratosis. Actinic Keratosis is a condition which surfaces due to uncontrolled exposure to the sun. The face and/or the scalp are heavily affected due to this medical condition. You can also buy Aldara Cream to treat superficial basal cell carcinoma, which is a form of skin cancer. Certain genital warts can also be cured using this cream. To use this cream, the person must be at least 12 years of age. The generic name of Aldara Cream is imiquimod topical.

Indications & Dosage of Aldara Cream

Aldara Cream is indicated for patients suffering from superficial basal cell carcinoma or actinic keratosis. It may be used for other purposes as well.

Aldara Cream is marketed as a single-use packet, containing 250mg of cream or roughly 12.5 mg imiquimod topical. The doctor’s prescription should be strictly followed while using Aldara Cream. Only the prescribed amount should be used.

It is best to wash and clean up the affected area of the skin and also the hands. The cream should be applied after the affected area dries up completely. Burnt or wounded skin should not be subjected to Aldara use.

For the treatment of actinic keratosis, you are recommended to apply Aldara Cream twice a week for approximately 16 weeks. For superficial basal cell carcinoma, it should be applied 5 times per week for 6 weeks. For genital warts, Aldara Cream should be used thrice a week for 16 weeks.
