Description of Dixarit

The generic name of Dixarit is clonidine hydrochloride. It belongs to a family of medicines known as vasodilators or antihypertensives. Dixarit is available in the form of an oral tablet. It is available in a single strength – 25 mg. As it is a prescription drug, it is best to speak to your doctor before you buy Dixarit online.

Indications & Dosage of Dixarit

Dixarit is used in the prevention of migraines and hot flushes in menopausal women. The drug works by widening the blood vessels in the brain, thereby increasing blood flow to the skin and lowering the blood pressure. The medication helps in reducing migraine attack pain.

Your doctor will give specific instructions regarding the dosage of Dixarit. It is recommended to be used for a minimum of two to four weeks before any noticeable improvement is witnessed in the treatment of migraine attacks and menopausal flushing. The daily dose will vary depending on how best it can prevent migraines and hot flushes.

You can take Dixarit with or without food. The use of the drug should not be stopped without consulting your doctor as this may cause symptoms such as nervousness, restlessness, palpitations, tremor, headache and abdominal symptoms to surface again.

Side Effects & Interactions of Dixarit

Dixarit has some common, uncommon and rare side effects. Not everybody taking the medication is likely to experience some side effect.

Common side effects associated with Dixarit are: sleeping problem, depression, headache, constipation, nausea, erectile dysfunction and fatigue. Some people also experience pain below the ear (from the salivary gland) when taking this medication. Dizziness, dry mouth and feeling extremely tired are some of the very common side effects of the medication.

Uncommon side effects associated with the medication are: itching, rash, and urticaria (nettle rash). In some cases, people taking Dixarit start having hallucinations, nightmares and experience difficulty understanding things happening around them. Discomfort and Raynaud’s phenomenon are also noticed in people taking this drug.

In rare cases, the drug may also cause some rare reactions such as breast growth (‘gynaecomastia’) in men, irregular heartbeat, dry eyes, pseudo-obstruction of the large intestine, and drying out of the lining of the nose. If you experience any such signs then it is best to stop the usage of the drug and seek medical help immediately.

Dixarit may potentially interact with other medicines you are using for depression such as imipramine or mirtazapine. Tell your doctor if you are using drugs for lowering the blood pressure or beta blockers and alpha blockers such as prazosin or doxazosin. Dixarit may also interact with water tablets, vasodilators and cardiac glycosides such as digoxin.

It is best to inform your doctor about every medication you are using, which includes prescription medications, over the counter drugs, and herbal supplements before you buy Dixarit.

Warnings & Precautions of Dixarit

Avoid the use of Dixarit if you are hypersensitive to clonidine in the medication. It may not be the right drug for people with a certain type of abnormal heart rhythm.

Pregnant, women planning to get pregnant and breastfeeding women are recommended to consult their doctor before they buy Dixarit.
