Description of Evamist

Evamist is a form of estrogen used to treat moderate and heavy hot flashes after menopause. The generic name of the drug is Estradiol Topical.

Read the instructions in the leaflet properly before administering the spray. If you have any doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. You must prime the applicator before using it for the first time. Don’t prime before taking the dose. Remove the plastic cover, keep the applicator upright, and place the plastic cone on the skin. Depress the pump once. Apply the spray inside your arm just below the elbow. Don’t apply Evamist on any other parts of the body. Make sure that you are applying the spray on clean, dry and unbroken skin. Don’t rub the spray on your skin. Allow it to dry and keep it for at least 2 minutes before dressing. Don’t wash your arms for the next 30 minutes after application.

Indications & Dosage of Evamist

Evamist is used to treat post menopausal symptoms. The spray is absorbed by the skin and gets into the bloodstream soon after administration.

The dosage of Evamist depends on the medical condition of the patient and the response to treatment. The recommended dosage is one spray per day in the beginning. Your doctor will increase the dose after monitoring your improvement. Evamist must be administered in the morning. If your doctor asks you to use more than one spray, use is next to the area where the previous dose was administered. Make sure that the cone is not touching the area of the previous dose. Don’t take an overdose of Evamist as it may result in breast tenderness, stomach pain, vomiting, nausea and vaginal bleeding. Seek immediate medical attention in case of an overdose.

Make sure that other people or pets don’t come in contact with the area where Evamist was administered soon after application. In case anyone touches the area, ask them to wash their hands with soap and water right away. Don’t use the spray for more than 75 days. Dispose Evamist after 75 days even if there’s some spray left in it.

Keep Evamist at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, and away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight. The spray is highly inflammable, so you must not keep it near a fire. Don’t smoke while administering the drug. Make sure that you keep the spray away from the reach of children.
