Description of Lupron Depot

Lupron Depot is an artificial human hormone responsible for carrying out several processes in the body. Its generic name is Leuprolide and it is given to the patient in the form of a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Indications & Dosage of Lupron Depot

Lupron Depot is used for treating prostate cancer symptoms in men, uterine fibroids or endometriosis in women, and precocious puberty in children of both sexes. It works by reducing testosterone in males and estrogen in females.

Lupron Depot is available in strengths of 3.75mg, 7.5mg, 11.25mg, 22.5mg and 30mg. You will receive one Lupron shot once a month. Sometimes, your doctor may decide to give you one Lupron shot once in 3 to 6 months, depending on your medical condition and response to treatment. The strength of the drug administered also depends on the medical condition being treated.

Side Effects & Interactions of Lupron Depot

Some of the side effects that patients on Lupron Depot may commonly encounter include:
