Description of Mestinon SR

Mestinon SR has Pyridostigmine as its active ingredient, and it belongs to the therapeutic category of muscle stimulants or antimyasthenic medicines. You can buy Mestinon SR in the form of oral tablets, containing Pyridostigmine Bromide 180mg. The tablets also contain tribasic calcium phosphate, silica gel, magnesium stearate, corn-derived proteins and carnauba wax. Do not use this medicine if you have an allergy to any of these ingredients.

Indications & Dosage of Mestinon SR

Mestinon SR is used for treating symptoms of myasthenia gravis. It is also recommended to military people who are exposed to nerve gas. The drug works by preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine in the patient’s body that is responsible for causing difficulty moving muscles. Acetylcholine is a chemical in responsible for building communication between muscle movement and nerve impulses.

Your doctor may advise you to take one to three Mestinon SR 180mg tablets one or two times a day. However, the dosage may vary depending on the severity of your condition and your response to treatment. Since these are sustained release tablets, their effects last longer than regular tablets, but they start working a little slower than the latter.
