Description of Mirapex ER

Mirapex ER contains Pramipexole Dihydrochloride, which is a dopamine agonist. It is available in the form of oral tablets.

Indications & Dosage of Mirapex ER

Mirapex ER is used for the treatment of symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease, including the inability to move, shakiness, stiffness, hampered movements, and unsteadiness of the body. Your doctor may or may not recommend you to buy Mirapex ER along with other drugs. It works by restoring dopamine balance in your brain, which leads to relief of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease or restless legs syndrome.

The treatment usually starts with Mirapex ER 0.375mg per day. Once tolerance to the drug is achieved, the dosage can be increased to Mirapex ER 0.75mg per day. Afterwards, it can be increased by 0.75mg, depending on your response to the treatment.

You can take the tablets with or without meals. As these are extended release tablets, you will have to swallow them whole, without crushing, chewing, breaking or dissolving them. Doing this can release too much of the medicine at a time, which may increase risks of developing serious side effects of the drug.

Side Effects & Interactions of Mirapex ER

Mirapex ER patients can commonly experience nausea and difficulty swallowing. These are usually experienced during the initial stages of starting the treatment. They usually subside on their own as your body becomes tolerant to Mirapex ER. Some patients may also suffer from constipation, loss of appetite, lack of interest in sex, impotence, or joint pain.

Some serious side effects associated with Mirapex ER include:

• Hallucinations
• Extreme drowsiness
• Chest discomfort
• Muscle pain
• Dry cough
• Shortness of breath
• Tremors
• Fast or uneven heartbeat
• Fainting
• Uncontrollable movements of the lips, eyes, tongue, legs, arms or face

Notify your doctor immediately if you have any of these symptoms.

Some patients may also suffer from an allergic reaction to Mirapex ER. Symptoms of an allergy include hives, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, or facial swelling. Discontinue using Mirapex ER if you develop any of these symptoms.

Do not buy Mirapex ER if you are taking analgesics, anti-epileptic drugs, or antidepressants at present. As the drug causes dizziness, do not take any other medicines along with it as it may worsen this side effect. Such drugs include muscle relaxants, sleeping pills, sedatives, narcotic pain relievers, allergy or cold medicines, anti-anxiety drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antidepressants or tranquilizers.

Warnings & Precautions of Mirapex ER

Special tests and dosage adjustments will be needed if you are suffering from low blood pressure, uncontrolled muscle movements, tremors or kidney disease. Inform your doctor beforehand if you have any of these medical conditions at present.

As Mirapex ER causes dizziness and tiredness, avoid doing activities such as driving a vehicle or operating a machine, as a serious accident may take place. Limit alcohol intake, as it may worsen the side effect. Also rise slowly from a sitting or lying position, as you may fall suddenly due to lightheadedness.
