Description of Neoral

Neoral is a medication with the generic name Cyclosporine. It belongs to a group of drugs known as immunosuppressants. Neoral is available in the form of a soft gelatin capsule. It is supplied in two dosage strengths such as Neoral 25mg and Neoral 100mg. The drug is a prescription medication; you need to consult your doctor before you buy Neoral online.

Indications & Dosage of Neoral

Neoral is used to prevent rejection of organ in a patient who has received an organ transplant such as a kidney, heart or liver transplant. The drug is specifically used to lower the natural immunity in a patient who has undergone organ transplant operation. Neoral is also indicated in the treatment of severe cases of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

The human body generally rejects transplanted organ and causes WBCs to attack the transplanted organ and get rid of it. Cyclosporine, the active ingredient in the medication, works to prevent WBCs from attacking the transplanted organ and helping the body accept the transplanted organ as its own.

Your doctor will give specific instructions regarding the dosage. The dosage of Neoral depends on the medical condition being treated and the patient’s weight. The usual starting daily dose of Neoral in organ transplant is 12 to 15mg per kg of weight. The daily dosage may be reduced to 5 to 10mg per kg of weight after a specific period of time.

The usual daily dose of Neoral for adults and teenagers for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis is 2.5 to 4mg per kg of weight.
