Description of Phoslo

Phoslo is a drug that has calcium acetate as its main ingredient. Calcium acetate works by preventing the body from retaining excessive blood phosphate. High blood phosphate levels may lead to severe health hazards like strokes and heart attacks. Patients who buy Phoslo will experience several positives like bone strength and decreased health hazard risks. The calcium acetate present in Phoslo binds itself to the phosphate in the diet of the patient and removes the unnecessary amount of phosphate from the body. The generic name of Phoslo is calcium acetate.

A prescription drug, Phoslo is available in the form of tablets meant for oral consumption. Each tablet contains 667mg calcium acetate and 10mg polyethylene glycol, which binds the calcium acetate to the phosphate.

Indications & Dosage of Phoslo

Phoslo is generally indicated for patients suffering from severe renal disease who are on dialysis. Even though dialysis does its bit in removing phosphate, it cannot remove the required amount. That is why Phoslo is used.

Phoslo is generally taken with a meal. The dosage amount is completely dependent on the patient’s condition. To get the maximum possible benefit out of the drug, the doctor’s directions have to be strictly followed. Altering dosage amounts is not advisable, as it may lead to severe health risks.

Lastly, the drug should be stored at room temperature, away from excess heat and moisture.
