Description of Prezista

Prezista falls under the category of drugs known as protease inhibitors. It is an antiviral medicine. They key role of Prezista is to prevent the multiplication and growth of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in the body. The generic name of Prezista is darunavir.

Prezista is a prescription drug. Patients can buy Prezista in the form of tablets in five different strengths; Prezista 75mg, Prezista 150mg, Prezista 300mg, Prezista 400mg and Prezista 600mg.

Indications & Dosage of Prezista

Prezista is primarily indicated for the treatment of HIV, which is the root cause of AIDS. Patients should keep in mind that Prezista is a preventive medication and cannot be expected to completely cure HIV or AIDS.

Patients should only consume the amount of Prezista that is mentioned in the doctor’s prescription. Taking excessive amounts of the drug will potentially result in side effects and health problems. The drug is generally used in combination with another drug called ritonavir to treat HIV. Prezista can be taken with either water or milk, and it works at its effective best when taken with food.
