Description of Proglycem

Proglycem comes under a category of drugs referred as thiazides. The generic name of this drug is Diazoxide – Oral. You can buy Proglycem in form of oral suspension (Proglycem 50 mg).

Nonmedical ingredients present in this drug are: magnesium aluminum silicate, sorbitol solution, propylene glycol, chocolate cream flavor, sodium benzoate, methylparaben, purified water, carboxymethyl cellulose sodium, propylparaben, mint flavor, poloxamer 188, and hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment).

Indications & Dosage of Proglycem

Proglycem is indicated for the treatment of hypoglycemia, or low sugar levels in the blood. This drug works by slowing the production of insulin within the body.

The usual dosage for adults and children is Proglycem 3-8 mg per kg, administered in 3 or 2 equal doses at every 12 or 8 hours. Higher dosage may be considered for patients who have refractory hypoglycemia. The usual dosage for newborns and infants is Proglycem 8-15 mg per kg, administered in 3 or 2 equal doses at every 12 or 8 hours.

The actual dosage of Proglycem may be different for various patients. Your doctor will prescribe you the correct dosage after evaluating the severity of your condition, your blood glucose levels, and response to the drug.
