Description of Renagel
Renagel is a phosphate binder and reduces levels of phosphate in the bloodstream. The generic name of this drug is Sevelamer. This drug is administered orally. You can buy Renagel in form of oral capsules. The oral capsules are available in two strengths, Renagel 400 mg and Renagel 800 mg.
The nonmedical ingredients present in this drug are: diacetylated monoglycerides, hypromellose, stearic acid, and colloidal silicon dioxide.
Indications & Dosage of Renagel
Renagel is used for preventing and treating elevated blood phosphate levels in individuals who are on kidney dialysis because of a chronic kidney disease.
The recommended initiating dosage range is 800 mg to 1600 mg per day. You should take the oral tablets with food. For effective treatment it is paramount that you follow all instructions laid down by your doctor.
Side Effects & Interactions of Renagel
