Description of Rocaltrol
The active ingredient in Rocaltrol is Calcitriol, which is a man-made active form of vitamin D. You can buy Rocaltrol in the form of an oral solution.
Indications & Dosage of Rocaltrol
Rocaltrol is given to patients who have a kidney disease, due to which they cannot make enough vitamin D in its active form. This drug is also given in order to treat or prevent parathyroid, phosphorus or calcium problems which can occur due to hypoparathyroidism or long-term kidney dialysis. In some cases, Rocaltrol is also used for treating or preventing bone disease such as osteomalacia or rickets when regular vitamin D does not work. It works by helping absorption of calcium in the diet so that it can function properly in the body.
Each ml of Rocaltrol contains 1mcg Calcitriol. You will be advised to take Rocaltrol 1ml once a day. However, the dosage and frequency of the drug depends on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Side Effects & Interactions of Rocaltrol
Rocaltrol is usually not supposed to cause side effects. If any side effects occur, the dosage can simply be adjusted by checking your phosphate and calcium levels. However, seek medical attention immediately if you develop any of these symptoms:

- Nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Increased thirst, dry mouth
