Description of Sanctura XR

Sanctura XR contains Trospium as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of antispasmodics or antimuscarinic medicines. The drug is available in the form of oral extended release tablets.

Indications & Dosage of Sanctura XR

Your doctor will recommend you to buy Sanctura XR in order to treat bladder spasms and symptoms of urinary urgency, frequency and incontinence. It works by relieving bladder muscles, so that your ability to control urination is improved. In this way, the frequency and urgency of urination is decreased, and leakage of urine does not take place.

You will be advised to take one Sanctura XR 60mg capsule once a day, usually in the morning. You should take the capsule on an empty stomach or at least one hour before food. This medicine is not meant to be used by patients with severe renal impairment.

Side Effects & Interactions of Sanctura XR

Some of the common side effects associated with Sanctura XR include:

  • Stomach upset
  • Constipation
  • Dry mouth
  • Dry nose
  • Dry eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Dizziness or drowsiness

These are mild side effects of the drug and can be managed easily with or without medical help. However, inform your doctor at once if any of these become too bothersome. Also seek immediate medical attention if you develop eye pain, fast heartbeat or difficulty urinating. Stop using Sanctura XR immediately if your urination stops.

Discontinue Sanctura XR immediately if you have signs of an allergic reaction after taking the tablet. Signs of an allergy include severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, hives or facial swelling. Seek medical attention promptly if any of these signs persist even after discontinuing the medicine.

Do not buy Sanctura XR along with any other drugs which are also removed through the kidneys. Such drugs include morphine, metformin, vancomycin, tenofovir and procainamide. Also do not take it with anti-Parkinson’s drugs (e.g. trihexyphenidyl or benzatropine), potassium supplements or other antimuscarinic medicines (e.g. dicyclomine, scopolamine, oxybutynin or tolterodine.

Also do not take Sanctura XR with other drugs that cause dizziness. Such drugs include sedatives, sleeping pills, antidepressants, muscle relaxants, anti-anxiety medicines, anti-seizure medicines, narcotic pain relievers or tranquilizers.

Warnings & Precautions of Sanctura XR

Your doctor will not prescribe treatment with Sanctura XR if you have an allergy to the drug, have a blockage in the digestive system, are suffering from uncontrolled or untreated narrow angle glaucoma, or if you are not able to urinate. Your doctor will need to take some special tests and make dosage adjustments if you have a liver or kidney disease, intestinal or stomach disorder like ulcerative colitis, or an enlarged prostate or muscle disorder like myasthenia gravis.

Sanctura XR is not meant to be given to pregnant women, as it can cause serious harm to the unborn baby. You must inform your doctor if you are found to be pregnant. Also contact your doctor at once if you become pregnant during Sanctura XR treatment.
