Description of Atacand HCT
Atacand HCT is primarily used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It is a combination drug comprised of candesartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Candesartan belongs to a class of medicines termed angiotensin II receptor antagonists, and hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic.
The combined effect of these two drugs prevents the blood vessels from narrowing down and reduces the density and volume of blood (by aiding the removal of excess salt and water from the body through the kidneys) to maintain easy flow.
Atacand HCT is only recommended to patients who have already undergone monotherapy with candesartan or other similar drugs. The generic name of Atacand HCT is Candesartan Cilexetil-Hydrochlorothiazide.
Indications & Dosage of Atacand HCT
This drug is available in three strengths to patients who have been asked to buy Atacand HCT- Atacand HCT 16-12.5 (containing 16 mg and 12.5 mg of candesartan and hydrochlorothiazide respectively), Atacand HCT 32-12.5 (containing 32 mg and 12.5 mg of candesartan and hydrochlorothiazide respectively), and Atacand HCT 32-25 (containing 32 mg and 25 mg of candesartan and hydrochlorothiazide respectively).
