Description of Effient
Effient belongs to a category of drugs referred to as antiplatelets. The generic name of this drug is Prasugrel. You can buy Effient in form of oral tablets that are available in two strengths, Effient 5 mg and 10 mg.
The nonmedical ingredients present in this drug are: hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, mannitol, magnesium stearate, croscarmellose sodium, lactose, titanium dioxide, iron oxide yellow, triacetin and iron oxide red (present in 10 mg tablets only).
Indications & Dosage of Effient
Effient is used for preventing blood clotting in the blood vessels or heart. Preventing blood clotting in the blood vessels or heart reduces a patient’s risk of developing certain serious conditions such as a heart attack. Efficient is given along with aspirin.
The recommended loading dose is 60 mg, administered as one dose. The recommended daily dosage is 10 mg. You may take Effient with or without food.
Patients weighing 60 kgs or less are given a lower maintenance dose of 5 mg.
Side Effects & Interactions of Effient
Effient may cause certain serious side effects. Discuss the risks associated with this drug with your doctor before starting treatment.
