Description of Gelnique Gel

Gelnique Gel is a topical medication with the generic name Oxybutynin. It belongs to a family of medicines known as antispasmodics. One packet of Gelnique Gel is equivalent to one dose. The drug is a prescription medication; you need to consult your doctor before you buy Gelnique Gel online.

Indications & Dosage of Gelnique Gel

Gelnique Gel is used to treat symptoms of an overactive bladder such as incontinence (urine leakage) and urgent or frequent urination.

Oxybutynin, the active ingredient in the drug, blocks the cholinergic receptors on the surface of the muscle cell on the wall of the bladder. This prohibits the action of acetylcholine on these receptors, which relaxes the detrusor muscle in the urinary bladder. Gelnique Gel helps prevent involuntary contractions of the urinary bladder and improves the bladder’s capacity to hold urine.

Your doctor will give you specific instructions regarding the use of the medication. Wash your hands with soap before handling Gelnique Gel. Wash the treatment area with a mild skin cleanser. Empty the contents of packet on your hands and apply it over the treatment area.

Gelnique Gel can be applied on the skin of the upper arm, thigh, shoulder or stomach region. Apply the medication to a different area every day. Do not apply Gelnique Gel on the same area two times in a row.

Side Effects & Interactions of Gelnique Gel

All drugs have side effects. Gelnique Gel may cause mild to severe side effects in some people. Some people may experience less severe side effects such as drowsiness, mild skin irritation in the treatment area where Gelnique Gel is applied, tiredness, and dizziness, cold symptoms such as sore throat, sneezing, stuffy nose, blurred vision, headache, constipation or dry mouth. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects become bothersome.

Gelnique Gel may also cause severe side effects such as uneven heart rate, burning sensation or pain while passing urine, dry skin, severe itching, pain, redness or rash in the skin area where the medication is applied. Stop using Gelnique Gel and consult your doctor if you experience severe side effects after taking a dose of Gelnique Gel.

Gelnique Gel may potentially interact with other medicines you are using and cause side effects. It may interact with drugs such as Belladonna, Scopolamine, Tiotropium, Tropine, Benzatropine, Methscopolamine, Mepenzolate, Glycopyrrolate or bronchodilators.

Before you buy Gelnique Gel, inform the doctor about every medicine you are using, which includes prescription drugs, over the counter medications, and herbal supplements.

Warnings & Precautions of Gelnique Gel

You should not use Gelnique Gel if you are hypersensitive to any ingredient in it. People with medical problems such as uncontrolled narrow angle glaucoma, decreased urination, blockage in the digestive tract, or those who are unable to urinate should not buy Gelnique Gel. Before starting the treatment, inform the doctor if you have medical problems such as kidney or liver disease, ulcerative colitis, slow digestion, severe constipation, myasthenia gravis or gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Gelnique Gel is listed as a category B pregnancy drug. Pregnant women, nursing mothers or women planning to get pregnant should learn about the benefits and risks of using the drug from their doctor before buying and using Gelnique Gel.
