Description of Isentress

Isentress is an antiviral medication used to prevent the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in a patient’s body. This drug specifically treats HIV which could lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or AIDS. The generic name of this antiviral drug is Raltegravir.

This medication is available as Isentress 400mg which contains 434.4 mg of raltegravir potassium. Indications & amp; Dosage of Isentress

Isentress in combination with other antiretroviral agents is indicated for treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV-1) infection in adult patients. The recommended dose of this drug to treat HIV-1 infected patients is Isentress 400mg twice a day with or without food. The recommended dose of this drug if co-administered with rifampin is Isentress 800mg twice a day with or without food.

Isentress therapy should be immediately stopped if a patient exhibits severe symptoms of an allergic reactions such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, tongue, lips or throat. An AIDS patient should strictly remain under the observation of a doctor.
