Each tablet containing 40mg Praziquantel and 16mg Milbemycin Oxime is meant for cats, tablets containing 10mg Praziquantel and 4mg Milbemycin Oxime are meant for small cats or kittens, tablets containing 125mg Praziquantel and 12.5mg Milbemycin Oxime are given to dogs, while those containing 25mg Praziquantel and 2.5mg Milbemycin Oxime are meant for small dogs or puppies.

Indications & Dosage of Milbemax

Milbemax is an oral medication used for treating mixed infections with tapeworms, whipworms, hookworms and roundworms, reducing infection with lungworms, and preventing heartworm disease in dogs. In cats, Milbemax is used for treating mixed infections with hookworms, roundworms and tapeworms, and for preventing heartworm disease. The drug works by acting on the neurotransmission of invertebrates, so that they are paralyzed and can be easily killed.

Dogs are given Milbemax at the rate of 0.5mg Milbemycin Oxime and 5mg Praziquantel per kg of their weight. Cats are given 2mg Milbemycin Oxime and 5mg praziquantel per kg of their weight.

Place the tablet in your pet’s mouth on the back of its tongue. You can even hide it in your pet’s food. Keep a watch out for your pet for a few minutes in order to make sure that it has swallowed the entire dose. If the pet spits out the tablet or if it vomits it out, you will be advised to repeat the dose.

Although these are common side effects of the drug, you should contact the veterinarian immediately if any of these become intolerable.
