Description of Monopril HCT

Monopril HCT is a combination of two drugs, Fosinopril and Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide. While Fosinopril is an ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor, Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide is a potent thiazide diuretic. The generic name of this drug is Fosinopril Sodium-Hydrochlorothiazide.

Monopril HCT is administered orally. Patients can buy Monopril HCT online in form of oral tablets. The oral tablets are available in two strengths Monopril HCT 10mg/12.5mg (10 mg of Fosinopril and 12.5 mg of Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide) and Monopril HCT 20mg/12.5mg (20 mg of Fosinopril and 12.5 mg of Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide). The nonmedical ingredients used in the oral tablets include: croscarmellose sodium, lactose, iron oxide, sodium stearyl fumarate, and povidone.

Indications & Dosage of Monopril HCT

Monopril HCT is used for treating hypertension (commonly known as high blood pressure) or heart failure. The two active ingredients present in this drug, Fosinopril and Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide, work differently to lower blood pressure. While Fosinopril, an ACE inhibitor, relaxes blood vessels, Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide works by removing excess water and salt from the blood. When given together Fosinopril and Sodium Hydrochlorothiazide are able to reduce blood pressure more efficiently than when administered separately.

Depending on the severity of your condition and your response to the drug your doctor may recommend either Monopril HCT 10mg/12.5mg or Monopril HCT 20mg/12.5mg once a day.
