Description of Proamatine

Proamatine falls under the category of drugs known as vasopressors. The main function of Proamatine is to constrict the blood vessels which results in a significant increase in blood pressure. The generic name of Proamatine is midodrine.

Patients can buy Proamatine in three different strengths in the form of tablets- Proamatine 2.5mg, Proamatine 5mg and Proamatine 10mg.

Indications & Dosage of Proamatine

Proamatine is generally indicated for the treatment of patients suffering from low blood pressure. It may also be indicated for certain other purposes.

Proamatine dosage should be followed strictly according to what the doctor prescribes. Consuming amounts higher or lower than prescribed may lead to severe health problems. Proamatine tablets can be taken separately or along with food as well. They should be taken with a glass of water. The number of doses per day depends completely on the doctor’s assessment of the problem. Patients should be careful while taking the last dose of Proamatine for a particular day. It should be taken at least 4 hours before bedtime.

Proamatine users need regular blood pressure testing done to monitor the drug’s performance. Appointments with the doctor should not be skipped if at all possible. The drug should be stored at room temperature, well away from heat and moisture.
