Description of Atarax

Atarax is used to treat allergic reactions such as itching, sneezing and excessive production of mucus caused due to certain allergic reactions. It is also used to treat anxiety. The generic name of the drug is Hydroxyzine.

Indications & Dosage of Atarax

Atarax is available in four forms, i.e., tablets (10, 25 and 50 mg), capsules (25, 50, 100 mg), syrup (10 mg per teaspoon) and injection (25 to 50 mg/mL). The recommended dosage of Atarax is 25 mg for 3-4 times a day. When the drug is used for sedation, the dosage is 50-100 mg. Anxiety is treated with 50-100 mg 3-4 times a day. Don’t take an overdose of Atarax. In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Don’t share the drug with other people. Avoid alcohol or alcoholic beverages during treatment.
