Description of Claritin Reditab
Claritin Reditab is part of the class of drugs known as non-sedating antihistamines. When a human being experiences an allergic reaction, certain cells in his/her body release naturally occurring chemicals known as histamines, which cause symptoms like sneezing, itching and watery eyes, sore throat and several other types of irritations. Antihistamines like Claritin Reditab prevent the body from producing excessive amounts of histamines to keep the symptoms in check. The generic name of Claritin Reditab is loratadine.
Claritin Reditabs can be purchased in the form of tablets in a blister pack in only one strength- Claritin Reditab 10mg.
Indications & Dosage of Claritin Reditab
Claritin Reditab is indicated mainly for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergies like nasal congestion, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, etc. The drug can also be indicated for other uses.
Administration of the drug should be completely according to the amounts prescribed by the doctor. Any abrupt changes should not be made in the dosage schedule, as it can adversely affect the body. Claritin Reditab is a slightly altered version of the regular Claritin tablet. Many patients have difficulties swallowing the regular Claritin tablets, which is why manufacturers decided to launch Claritin Reditab. These tablets readily dissolve in the mouth, making it easier for patients to ingest the drug. For adults, the generally recommended dose is a single tablet a day. If they are using Claritin Reditab 12 hours, it is recommended for them to have two tablets.
Claritin Reditab should be preferably taken at the same time each day. Missed doses should be skipped, and not be compensated with extra doses later on. Lastly, the drug should be stored away from heat and moisture, at room temperature.
