Description of Coreg

Coreg is an oral medication with the generic name Carvedilol. It belongs to a group of medicines known as beta-blockers. Coreg is available in the form of a tablet. It is supplied in 4 strengths such as Coreg 3.125mg, 6.25mg, 12.5mg and 25mg. The drug is a prescription medication, so you need to consult your doctor before you buy Coreg online.

Indications & Dosage of Coreg

Coreg is indicated in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. It may also be used after a heart attack where the heart does not pump blood well because of a recent heart attack.

Carvedilol, the main active ingredient in the medication, blocks the transmission of the messages to the beta receptors in the heart. This action of Coreg reduces forces of contraction and heart rate, which slows down the activity of the heart.

Your doctor will give you specific instructions regarding the dosage. The dose of Coreg is individualized by titration method. The usual starting dose is 2 Coreg 3.125mg tablets, two times daily for period of 2 weeks. If the dose is well tolerated by the patient, the dose may be increased to 6.25mg, 12.5mg and 25mg, two times daily over successive intervals of at least 2 weeks.

Take the medication with food. Do not take Coreg in larger amounts than recommended by your doctor.

Side Effects & Interactions of Coreg

Like all other drugs, Coreg may also cause mild to severe side effects in some patients. However, not all people who use this drug experience side effects. As a matter of fact, many people who use this medication do not complain about any side effects.

The less severe side effects of Coreg include: nausea, cough, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, feeling tired or weak, dry eyes, diarrhea, decreased sex drive, joint pain, difficulty having an orgasm, or impotence. Stop using the medication and consult your doctor if you experience severe side effects after taking a dose of Coreg.

Coreg may potentially interact with other drugs you are using and cause side effects. It may interact with medicines such as MAO inhibitors, HIV or AIDS medicines, heart or blood pressure drugs, drugs used to treat psychiatric disorders, heart rhythm medications, some antidepressants, oral diabetes medications, Fluconazole, Rifampin, cyclosporine, or Cimetidine.

Before you buy Coreg, inform the doctor about every drug you are using, which includes prescription drugs, over the counter medications, and herbal supplements.

Warnings & Precautions of Coreg

You should not use Coreg if you are hypersensitive to any ingredient in it. People with medical problems such as asthma, severe liver disease, bronchitis, severe heart conditions such as sick sinus syndrome, heart block or slow heart rate, or emphysema should not buy Coreg.

Before starting the treatment, inform the doctor if you have medical problems such as angina, kidney disease, diabetes, low blood pressure, liver disease, thyroid disorder, circulation problems or pheochromocytoma or allergies.

Coreg is listed as a category C pregnancy drug. Pregnant women, nursing mothers or women planning to start a family should learn about the benefits and risks of using the drug from their doctor before buying it.
