Description of Ditropan XL

Ditropan XL is classified as an anticholinergic and antispasmodic agent. The generic name of this drug is Oxybutynin Chloride. It is a prescription drug, so you need a doctor’s prescription to buy Ditropan XL.

Ditropan is generally used orally and is available in the form of normal oral tablets (Ditropan 5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg), extended release oral tablets (Ditropan XL 5 mg), and liquid syrup (Ditropan 5 mg/ml). You can also buy Ditropan online in the form of a transdermal delivery patch that provides 3.9 mg of the drug per day.

Indications & Dosage of Ditropan XL

Ditropan XL is indicated for the treatment of bladder spasms. It works in two ways. Ditropan XL inhibits involuntary contractions of the bladder muscles by obstructing the production of acetylcholine, a chemical that plays an important role in the contraction of the bladder muscles. In addition, Ditropan XL relaxes the detrusor muscle, which is the outer layer of the urinary bladder.

The recommended starting dosage range in adults is 5-10 mg per day. If required, your doctor may increase your dose in increments of 5 mg until an optimal response is established. The maximum daily dose is 30 mg per day.

The usual starting dose in pediatric patients who are 6 years of age or more is 5 mg per day. The dosage may be increased in increments of 5 mg until an optimal response is achieved. The maximum daily dose is 20 mg per day.
