Basic Information On Elocon
Elocon is used to treat inflammation and itching due to psoriasis, eczema and such allergic skin conditions. It contains a synthetic corticosteroid known as mometasone foroate. There are many forms of psoriasis. Generally, it appears as red or pink areas of thickened skin over the elbows, knees or scalp. Eczema is usually dry, reddened skin with itching or burning. Occasionally there may be blisters and oozing. Both psoriasis and eczema differ from person to person and are not contagious. Precautions/Side Effects For Elocon
Elocon contains mometasone foroate which is a synthetic corticosteroid. Suitable precautions are needed when the medicine is to be used over a long period and particularly in babies. Topical or local application should be strictly limited to the minimum required quantity in pediatric use. Care is also advisable if the brand or generic Elocon is used over large areas of the body. In consultation with the doctor, choose whether it is the cream, lotion or ointment that is suitable for you or your child. Do not use this drug if you have diabetes or are pregnant. Do not use the medicine around eyes, under the arms or in the groin area. Limit the usage on face to short periods and follow medical advice.

Do not cover the area with any bandage or covering unless your doctor advises. Avoid diapers for babies. Wash your hands after applying the medicine unless you are using it on the hands also. Do not allow the medicine to spread to other body parts. Once control is achieved, discontinue the medicine. Request your doctor for a review if no improvement is seen even after two weeks.
