Description of Evista

The generic name of Evista is raloxifene hydrochloride, and it is available in the form of tablets for oral use. The inactive ingredients of Evista include titanium dioxide, carnauba wax, anhydrous lactose, crospovidone, polysorbate 80, modified pharmaceutical glaze, aluminum lake, lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, magnesium stearate, povidone, and FD&C Blue No. 2. Indications & Dosage of Evista

Evista is prescribed for treating osteoporosis that occurs in women after their menopause. It is also used for preventing this condition. Evista is sometimes given to reduce the risk of suffering from invasive breast cancer, especially in women already suffering from osteoporosis.

The recommended dose is Evista 60mg once a day with or without meals. Evista 60mg is available in bottles of 30, 100, and 200 tablets. It should be taken at the same time every day, and an overdose is not recommended. If you miss your dose, take a tablet as soon as possible. Warnings & Precautions of Evista

Evista is not recommended if you are pregnant as it can harm the fetus. Using this medication during pregnancy can lead to developmental abnormalities in the fetus such as kidney cavitations. It can also lead to fetal heart anomalies, abortion, retardation of fetal development, hydrocephaly, fewer chances of fetal survival, and even extreme changes in pituitary hormone count. It is not yet known whether Evista gets excreted into breast milk or not.

You need to discuss your medical history with the doctor prior to beginning Evista treatment. Inform him/her if you have the following :

  • Atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease
  • High blood pressure
