Description of Grazax

Grazax is a form of oral lyophilisate. The ingredients of Grazax are made of grass pollen allergen extracts. It is effective in the treatment of conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis caused by grass pollen. Grazax works by increasing the tolerance to grass pollen. The drug has sustaining effects after the therapy has been stopped and is also a very effective medication for children suffering from allergic reactions. Indications & Dosage of Grazax

Grazax should be only taken as prescribed by your doctor. It is an alternative treatment to allergy shots for patients with grass pollen allergy, commonly known as hay fever.

Grazax comes in the form of sublingual tablets. The sublingual tablet is dissolved under the tongue. The recommended dose is one tablet once a day beginning four months before the onset of the grass pollen season. The therapy is usually continued throughout the year. The first dose of Grazax should always be taken under the supervision of the doctor.

You should dry your hands completely before handling Grazax tablets. The tablet should be placed beneath the tongue and allowed to be dissolved completely.

Side Effects & Interactions of Grazax

The minor side effects of this drug include itching or redness in the eyes, runny nose, and swelling, numbness, blistering of the mouth, lip swelling, fatigue, headache, throat irritation, cough, abdominal pain, or heartburn. Warnings & Precautions of Grazax

Grazax should be taken with special care if you have recently undergone a recent dental surgery. Treatment should be stopped for about one week until your mouth has healed completely. Patients with an allergy to fish should take this drug with caution. In children suffering from mild asthma (upper respiratory infection), Grazax therapy should be stopped until the infection has cleared.

For pregnant women, Grazax should not be instituted during pregnancy. If a patient becomes pregnant while on Grazax therapy, she should consult her doctor about the safety of continuing treatment.

Grazax treatment should not be stopped abruptly without consulting your doctor as this will result in not getting the full benefit of the treatment. In addition, Grazax should be kept out of reach of children.
