Description of Lysodren

Lysodren is the brand name for mitotane, which is an oral chemotherapeutic agent. You can buy Lysodren for the treatment of certain forms of cancer. This medicine works by preventing and slowing down the spread of cancer cells in the body.

Lysodren is specifically prescribed for the treatment of adrenal cortical carcinoma, also known as adrenal gland cancer. Your doctor may prescribe Lysodren for other medical purposes as well. Lysodren is available in the form of white colored, scored tablets containing Lysodren 500mg.

Indications & Dosage of Lysodren

Lysodren is indicated for treating inoperable adrenal gland cancer (functional as well as non-functional). The first dosage of Lysodren tablets would usually be taken in the office or hospital setting. This is done so that the patient can be carefully monitored for any signs of side effects. Your doctor would prescribe the exact dosage of Lysodren to be taken and the total duration of treatment, which you must follow strictly.

You may take Lysodren on an empty or full stomach, but you must always handle the tablet using clean and dry rubber gloves. Never break and crush the tablet. If the tablet accidently breaks, then the pieces cannot be consumed and must be disposed properly. The drug in Lysodren tablets can prove to be extremely dangerous when it comes into contact with skin. Other specific drugs that may interact with Lysodren include spironolactone and blood thinners like warfarin.
