Description of Medrol

Medrol is a medication with the generic name methylprednisolone, which belongs to the drug class known as corticosteroids. This particular medication stops the release of certain chemicals inside the body that trigger an inflammatory reaction. You can buy Medrol in the form of oral tablets with the following different dosage strengths- Medrol 2mg, Medrol 4mg, Medrol 8mg, Medrol 16mg and Medrol 32mg. You must consult with your doctor before buying this drug.

Indications & Dosage of Medrol

Medrol is indicated for treating inflammations caused by several conditions, including ulcerative colitis, skin conditions, allergic disorders, lupus, arthritis, breathing disorders and psoriasis. The dosage of Medrol is variable and would be individualized according to the medical condition being treated and the patient’s response to treatment.

Your doctor would determine the dosage and duration of treatment with Medrol. You must never take a dosage of Medrol greater than what has been prescribed for you, as it may lead to an overdose. The initial daily dose of Medrol may be in the range of 4mg to 48mg. Your doctor may increase or decrease your dose of Medrol to achieve maximum benefit from the treatment.

Your dosage of Medrol may change if you suffer from a serious infection, fever or illness. The dosage is also subject to a reduction in the event of a surgery or medical emergency. It is important to note that Medrol may cause strange and incorrect results in medical tests. Therefore, you must tell the performing doctor beforehand that you are on Medrol.

You must not stop treatment with Medrol immediately, as it may result in withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor may recommend a gradual reduction in dosage over time until it is stopped completely. Your family, friends, doctors and those around you should be made aware that you are on Medrol.
