Indications & Dosage of Mobic
Mobic is used for treating inflammation within the joints, pain, swelling, and tenderness associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Certain naturally-occurring chemicals, prostaglandins, cause inflammation and inflammation-related symptoms such as pain, swelling, and tenderness. Mobic works by blocking the activity of the enzymes that produce prostaglandins. Reduced levels of prostaglandins, in turn, helps reduce inflammation and pain.
The recommended daily dosage for adult arthritis patients is Mobic 7.5 mg. If required, a higher daily dose, not exceeding 15 mg/day, may be administered if adequate improvement is not seen with the daily dose of 7.5 mg.
The recommended daily dosage for juveniles is Mobic 0.125 mg/kg/day. Oral suspension may be administered to children who are unable to take the drug in capsule form.
