Description of Noroxin

The generic name of Noroxin is Norfloxacin. It belongs to a family of medicines known as Fluoroquinolones. Noroxin is available in the form of an oral tablet. The drug is a prescription medication, which means you need to consult your doctor before you buy Noroxin online.

Indications & Dosage of Noroxin

Noroxin is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract such as chronic prostatis and cystitis. It is also used in the treatment of urinary infections related to kidney stones.

The drug works by prohibiting the action of DNA-gyrase, a bacterial enzyme which plays an important role in the replication and repairing process of the bacterial cells. Without this enzyme, the bacteria can neither replicate nor repair themselves, which leads to their death.

Your doctor will give you specific instructions regarding the dosage. The dosage of Noroxin depends on the medical condition being treated. The recommended daily dose to treat urinary tract infection is 400mg, two times a day for 3 days, while the recommended dose to treat prostatis is 400mg, two times a day for 28 days.

Take the medication 1 hour prior to or 2 hours after your meal. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to prevent the formation of crystals in the urine.

Side Effects & Interactions of Noroxin

Noroxin may cause mild to severe side effects in some people. It is not necessary that every person taking the medication will experience some side effect. Many people using Noroxin do not complain about any side effects.

Less severe side effects associated with Noroxin are: headache, nausea, constipation, muscle pain, feeling anxious or restless, dizziness, mild stomach pain, sleep problems such as nightmares or insomnia, vaginal discharge or itching, vomiting, or mild skin itching. These side effects wane over time as your body gets used to the medication. However, if they become bothersome or stay for a long time, you need to consult your doctor.

Severe side effects associated with Noroxin are: bloody or watery diarrhea, hallucinations, dizziness, seizure, no urination or urinating less than usual, burning, tingling, pain or numbness in your feet or hands, swelling in your ankle or arm, sudden pain, confusion, loss of movement, easy bleeding or bruising, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or eyes, pain in your upper stomach, general ill feeling, or dark urine. This is not a complete list of side effects associated with Noroxin. Stop using the drug and seek medical attention immediately if you experience or notice any severe side effects after taking a dose of Noroxin.

Noroxin may potentially interact with other drugs you are using and cause side effects. It may interact with medications such as Cyclosporine, Ropinirole, Clozapine, Theophylline, certain NSAIDs, Tacrine, Probenecid, Tizanidine, insulin, Warfarin, diabetes medications taken orally, or certain oral steroid medicines.

Before you buy Noroxin, inform the doctor about every drug you are using, which includes prescription medications, over the counter drugs and herbal supplements.

Warnings & Precautions of Noroxin

You should not use Noroxin if you are hypersensitive to any ingredient in the drug or allergic to Moxifloxacin, Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin, Levofloxacin or Lomefloxacin. It may not be the right medicine for people with medical problems such as liver or kidney disease, diabetes, hypokalemia, joint problems or myasthenia gravis.

Noroxin is listed as a category C pregnancy drug. It may pass into breast milk and harm the nursing baby. Pregnant women, nursing mothers and women planning to get pregnant should learn about the risks and benefits of using the drug from their doctor before they buy Noroxin.
