Description of Norpace

Norpace is an antiarrhythmic medication with the generic name Disopyramide. This particular drug affects the heart rhythm. You can buy Norpace as controlled-release or immediate-release capsules. Both forms of this oral medicine are available in two dose strengths- Norpace 100mg and Norpace 150mg. All capsules of Norpace contain Disopyramide in a phosphate form, and also contain the following inactive ingredients: corn starch, gelatin, edible ink, titanium dioxide, talc and lactose or sucrose.

Indications & Dosage of Norpace

Norpace is indicated for treating severe cases of arrhythmias, a condition characterized by irregular heartbeat patterns. This medicine is not considered as the first choice of treatment, and is only prescribed if the doctor considers the patient’s condition to be life-threatening or serious enough.

You must take Norpace as per the dosage and duration prescribed by your doctor. You must not take a dosage of Norpace that is larger than what has been prescribed to you. The exact dosage of Norpace would be determined by your doctor according to your tolerance and response to the drug. For most adult patients, Norpace is started at a daily dose in the range of 400mg to 800mg, divided in equal doses.

The frequency of Norpace would depend on the form of Norpace being taken. You must only buy the form of Norpace that has been prescribed for you. If you are taking the controlled-release form of Norpace, you must not chew, crush or break the capsule. By doing any of them, you would risk suffering from an overdose. It is best if you try to take Norpace at around the same time each day. If you change the dosing schedule or skip doses, your condition may worsen.
