Description of Ocupress

Ocupress is used along with other medicines to treat high pressure in the eyes due to open-angle glaucoma. The generic name of the drug is Carteolol Hydrochloride.

You must buy Ocupress as per the directions of your doctor. Wash your hands properly before administering the eye drops. Shake the bottle well before use. Use your index finger to pull the lower eye lid to form a pouch. Administer Ocupress, look downward and close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. This will prevent the medicine from draining away from the eyes. Apply pressure on the inner part of your eye using your fingers soon after administering the drug. Don’t rub or blink the eyes. The eye drops contain a preservative called benzalkonium chloride that will be absorbed by the contact lens. Remove your contact lens while using Ocupress. You may put it back 15 minutes after administering the eye drops.

Indications & Dosage of Ocupress

Ocupress is a beta-blocker that works by preventing the formation of fluid in the eyes.

The recommended dosage of Ocupress is one drop in the affected eye two times a day. Follow your doctor’s instruction carefully while administering the drug. Don’t use the drug in excess or for a longer period than prescribed. Don’t use the eye drops if it is discolored. Don’t leave the bottle open and don’t let the applicator tip touch any surface to avoid contamination. Replace the cap soon after administering Ocupress. You must not share your drug with others even through the symptoms are similar. You may feel better after using the eye drops for few days. Complete the course of treatment to prevent a relapse and resurfacing of the bacterial infection. Don’t stop or change the dosage without consulting your doctor. Use Ocupress at the same time every day for best result. If you skip a dose of the medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is time for the next dose, avoid the skipped dose. Don’t take an overdose of Ocupress. Get immediate medical attention in case of an overdose.

You must store Ocupress at room temperature away from heat and moisture. Keep the bottle closed tightly and keep it away from the reach of children.
