Description of Omnaris

Omnaris nasal spray is used to treat seasonal allergies. The active component is ciclesonide, which is a non-halogenated glucocorticoid. Ciclesonide is a white to yellow white powder which is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol and acetone. It is a manual pump spray formulation. It also contains hypromellose, potassium sorbate, microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethylcellulose sodium and hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH levels of the metered dose.

Indications & Dosage of Omnaris

Omnaris nasal spray is used to treat symptoms that arise due to seasonal allergies in patients over the age of six years, and other forms of allergies in patients who are twelve years or older.

You should administer Omnaris through the intranasal passages only. Before using it, the bottle should be gently shaken and the pump should be primed by actuating it eight times. If not used for four consecutive days, the bottle should be gently shaken and reprimed with one spray

In case of seasonal allergic rhinitis :

1. The recommended daily dose is two sprays in each nostril . The maximum dosage should not exceed two sprays per day.

In case of perennial allergic rhinitis :

1. The recommended daily dose is two sprays in each nostril. The maximum dosage should not exceed two sprays daily.

You can buy Omnaris nasal spray in amber glass bottles containing 12.5 gram of ciclesonide solution. A manual metered pump is also supplied with the bottle for nasal delivery. Prior to initial use, the bottle should be shaken gently and the pump must be primed eight times. The bottle should be discarded after 120 sprays or after four months. It should be stored at 25°C, and excursion is allowed at 15°C to 30°C.

Side Effects & Interactions of Omnaris

Due to the presence of corticosteroids in the drug, Omnaris nasal spray may have various adverse effects on the patient.

• Impaired wound healing, candida albicans infection, nasal septal perforations, epistaxis.
• Immunosuppression, glaucoma and cataract.
• Hypothalmic-pituitary-adrenal axis effects, which may include growth reduction.

Patients who have undergone nasal surgery or experienced nasal ulcers should not buy Omnaris nasal spray until healing has occurred.

Nasal corticosteroids are known to cause glaucoma and/or cataracts, and as such, close monitoring should be followed while using Omnaris nasal spray on patients with a history of glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure or cataract.

Warnings & Precautions of Omnaris

Omnaris nasal spray, when used for a prolonged period of time, may lead to a candida infection amounting to infections in the nasal passage and pharynx. It is recommended to discontinue usage and seek appropriate treatment in such a case. Routine and periodic examinations should be conducted for evidence of adverse effects on the nasal mucosa.

It is advised to exercise caution while administering Omnaris nasal spray to patients with untreated bacterial or fungal infections, tuberculosis infections of the respiratory tract, or ocular herpes simplex because the symptoms may be worsened. Routine and close monitoring of growth is advised as it is known to cause a reduction in growth of children.
