Description of Prempro

The generic name of Prempro is conjugated Estrogens/Medroxyprogesterone acetate. Prempro is used as a hormone replacement therapy drug. It contains two different hormones, estrogens and a progestin. The medication is supplied as two different tablets, 1 Conjugated Estrogens tablet and 1 Medroxyprogesterone Acetate tablet. Prempro is indicated for oral administration only. The conjugated Estrogens tablet is supplied in strength, 0.625mg while Medroxyprogesterone Acetate tablet is supplied in 2 strengths, 2.5mg and 5mg.

Each Prempro medication package contains 28 conjugated Estrogens tablets and 28 Medroxyprogesterone Acetate tablets of any one strength. The medication package which contains conjugated Estrogens 0.625mg tablets and Medroxyprogesterone Acetate 2.5mg tablets is known as Prempro 0.625mg/2.5mg while the medication package which contains conjugated Estrogens 0.625mg tablets and Medroxyprogesterone Acetate 5mg tablets is known as Prempro 0.625mg/5mg.

Indications & Dosage of Prempro

Prempro is prescribed to manage menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, uterine bleeding, chills and sweating.

Side Effects & Interactions of Prempro

Less severe side effects associated with Prempro are: nausea, nervousness, depression, dizziness, tiredness, diarrhea, vomiting, back pain, or bloating.
