Description of Seroquel XR
Seroquel XR is a second generation antipsychotic drug. It is prescribed for treating mental disorders like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and major depression. Patients may buy Seroquel XR in any of the following different strengths depending on the prescribed dosage: 50mg, 150mg, 200mg, 300mg and 400mg. Seroquel XR is the extended release tablet form of the drug Seroquel.

- Schizophrenia in adults;
- Bipolar disorder in adults
Patients should undergo evaluation by a doctor before deciding to buy Seroquel XR. The drug should be indicated before starting usage. It is also of utmost importance that patients adhere strictly to the dosage as recommended by the physician. In general, the dosage of Seroquel XR may be thus:
- Seroquel XR may be initiated as 300mg extended release tablets taken once daily by adults suffering from schizophrenia. At the discretion of the doctor, the dose may be gradually increased over a short period of time till the maximum daily dose of 800mg is attained.
- For patients suffering from bipolar disorder, the dosage is highly dependent on the exact nature of the bipolar disorder. In adults suffering from bipolar depression, 50mg Seroquel XR once daily is the starting dose, increased over the next four days up to a maximum daily dose of 300mg. In case of patients with bipolar mania, the daily dose starts at 300mg, is increased to 600mg on the second day, and is stabilized at 400-600mg on the third day until required.
The extended-release tablets should not be crushed/ chewed/ broken and should be swallowed whole with water.
Side Effects & Interactions of Seroquel XR
