General Information on Sinequan

Sinequan belongs to a drug known as tricyclic antidepressants. It is used to treat symptoms of depression and/or anxiety in psychoneurotic patients or those associated with alcoholism, psychotic depressive disorders or manic depressive conditions. The generic name of this drug is Doxepin.

The inert ingredients for Sinequan capsule are magnesium stearate, starch, sodium lauryl sulfate and for oral concentrate Sinequan ingredients are glycerin, methylparaben, peppermint oil, propylparaben and water. This medication is available as capsule in the following strengths, Sinequan 10mg, Sinequan 25mg, Sinequan 50mg, Sinequan 75mg, Sinequan 100mg and Sinequan 150mg.

Side effects of Sinequan

You should not buy Sinequan online if you have:

  • A known hypersensitivity to Doxepin
  • Glaucoma with urination
  • Used an MAO inhibitor such as furazolidone, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, within past 14 days

Pregnant women can take Sinequan only with a doctor’s prescription. Nursing mothers should take this medication only under the supervision of a doctor.

Dosage of Sinequan

The recommended dose for patients with mild to moderate illness is Sinequan 75mg. The Dosage can be subsequently reduced or increased at appropriate intervals corresponding to the patient’s response. The usual dose range is 75mg of Sinequan a day to 150mg of Sinequan a day.

In patients with severe medical conditions, the dose is gradually increased to 300 mg /day Sinequan if necessary. And patients with very mild emotional symptoms are provided as low as Sinequan 25mg a day to Sinequan 50mg a day. However, a once-a-day schedule if employed, the maximum recommended dose is Sinequan 150mg a day.

In case of a missed dose, a patient should use the medication as soon as he or she remembers. If it is almost time for next scheduled dose, a patient should skip the missed dose. A patient should not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose. In case of an overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, muscle stiffness, blurred vision, uneven heartbeats may occur which need emergency medical help.

Interactions

There are 959 drugs which interact with Sinequan, out of which 235 have major, 663 moderate and 61 minor drug interactions with Sinequan. Drugs like cimetidine, tolazamide, heart rhythm medications and phenothiazines may have adverse reactions with Sinequan. There are 9 disease interactions with Sinequan which include anticholinergic effects, cardiovascular disease, pheochromocytoma, seizure disorders, bone marrow suppression, diabetes, renal/liver disease, schizophrenia/bipolar disorder and Tardive Dyskinesia. Alcohol has a moderate drug interaction with Sinequan.
