Description of Sintrom

Sintrom belongs to the group of medicines known as anticoagulants or blood thinners. The active ingredient present in this drug is acenocoumarol. It is an antagonist of vitamin K and similar proteins that are responsible for forming blood clots.

Doctors may advise patients suffering from heart disorders that involve blood clotting in the arteries to buy Sintrom. This drug is available as 1mg and 4mg tablets. The generic name for Sintrom is Acenocoumarol.

Indications & Dosage of Sintrom

The primary function of Sintrom is to prevent coagulation of blood. It may be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Blood clotting in the veins
  • A heart rhythm disorder known as atrial fibrillation.
  • Ischemic attacks.
  • Blood coagulation in the lungs

Patients who buy Sintrom need to strictly follow the doctor’s instructions pertaining to dosage and administration.

The dosage usually recommended for Sintrom patients lies between 8mg and 12mg daily initially. This may be adjusted and eventually maintained between 1 to 10mg daily following blood tests as conducted and assessed by the doctor.

There are certain points that require attention while administering Sintrom:

  • The drug should not be taken within an hour and a half of food intake.
  • Sintrom tablets should be swallowed whole with plain water.
  • Beverages and food should be avoided for thirty minutes post intake.
  • The patient may not lie down within half an hour of taking Sintrom

It is advisable that patients do not take part in vigorous activities that may cause injury and stay away from sharp objects to avoid cutting or bruising.

Some are moderate and do not require medical attention (as the body adjusts to them over a short span) while others may pose a serious threat to health and be indicative of underlying disorders.
