Description of Skelaxin
Skelaxin is a prescription drug which contains metaxalone as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of medications known as muscle relaxants. Although the exact mechanism of action of Skelaxin is not yet known, it is believed to act on the central nervous system and relieve certain nervous impulses (that cause pain sensations) in the brain.
Patients who have been asked to buy Skelaxin, or Metaxalone (as it is generically referred) will find it available in the form of 800mg tablets. The inactive ingredients present in this drug are: ammonium calcium alginate, corn starch, alginic acid, magnesium stearate and B-rose liquid.
Indications & Dosage of Skelaxin
Skelaxin is primarily indicated in adults and children over the age of 12 years as an adjuvant for the treatment of certain musculoskeletal conditions that cause acute pain and discomfort.
Patients who buy Skelaxin for their muscle cramps and body aches need to take it regularly to witness positive results. Proper rest, physical therapy, diet and other measures are necessary for excepted recovery and optimum benefit of the treatment.
The dosage of Skelaxin that is usually recommended is a single 800mg tablet taken 3 or 4 times each day. It should be noted that the dosage may vary between individuals, and the doctor’s instructions should be followed.
The tablets should be stored at room temperatures ranging between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius.

The safety of Metaxalone has not yet been established in pregnant women. It is not known whether the active ingredient of Skelaxin passes in to breast milk. Both pregnant and lactating women should only use this drug after consulting a medical expert.
