Temodar Information
Temodar is a drug that is an alkylating agent. It is used for treating glioblastoma multiforme. It is recommended for the treatment of adult patients only. The drug is used concomitantly along with radiotherapy. It is also recommended and used for maintenance therapy. The generic drug gets activated to MTIC which is 5-(3 methyltriazen-1-yl)imidazole-4 carboxamide. MTIC once activated, becomes cytotoxic due to the alkylation of the DNA. Thus, the drug’s cytotoxic property helps in preventing the cell replication, especially those cells which are cancerous. The drug needs a prescription from the doctor. Temodar Side Effects and Precautions
The side effects of Temozolomide that you may commonly experience are a feeling of sickness, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, hair loss, constipation, fatigue, headache or fits/convulsions. Other common side effects that may be associated with Temodar are reduction in the count of WBC (white blood cells), reduction in neutrophil count or reduction in platelet count in the blood.
