Description of Xeomin
Xeomin is an injection administered to treat abnormal spasms in the neck and eye muscles. The generic name of the drug is IncobotulinumtoxinA. Xeomin is also known as Botulinum toxin type A.
Xeomin is administered into the muscle by a doctor, nurse or a trained medical practitioner. The injection will be given into more than one area at a time depending on the medical condition of the patient.
Indications & Dosage of Xeomin
Xeomin is used to treat a number of medical conditions that include cervical dystonia (spasms in the neck muscles) and abnormal spasms of the eyelids caused by nerve disorders. Xeomin is made from bacteria that produce Botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin reduces the nerve activities that results in temporary reduction of muscle activity. Doctors can also recommend patients to buy Xeomin to reduce facial wrinkles.
The recommended dosage of Xeomin for cervical dystonia is 120 Units. The dosage could be increased gradually up to 240 Units. The dosage for abnormal spasms of the eyelids should be 35 Units per eye. The dosage should not exceed 70 Units for both eyes.
While administering the injection for the eye muscles, you may have to use eye drops or special contact lenses to protect the surface of your eye. The symptoms of the spasms in the neck muscle will improve only seven days after the injection. Xeomin results are temporary, and you will have to take the shot one every three months. After a few injections, the frequency of the retrieval of symptoms may reduce. Do not change your doctor during the treatment, and make sure that the drug is being administered by an experienced doctor. Taking extra doses of Xemoin will cause serious side effects.
Xeomin can be stored at room temperature (20-25 degrees Celsius), in a refrigerator (2-8 degrees Celsius) or in a freezer (-20 to -10 degrees Celsius).
