Description of Bactroban Cream
Bactroban Cream is used to treat skin infections in cuts and wounds. It is an antibacterial agent that works by preventing the production of important proteins that are required for the bacteria to survive. The generic name of the medicine is Mupirocin.
Check the dosing instructions on the label when you buy Bactroban Cream. You must use Bactroban Cream only as directed by your doctor. Before using the cream, wash and dry the affected area. Apply the cream and rub it in gently so that it spreads evenly. You may cover the affected area with a bandage after using Bactroban Cream. Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream. The cream is only for external use. Make sure that Bactroban Cream does not come in contact with your eyes, nose or mouth.
Indications & Dosage of Bactroban Cream
Bactroban Cream is available in 15 gram and 30 gram strengths.
Bactroban Cream must be applied on the affected areas three times a day. You must continue using the drug for at least 10 days. However, the dosage and duration depends on the medical condition of the patient and his/her response to treatment. You may feel better after using the cream for a few days. Continue with the treatment till its conclusion for the best results. Don’t miss any dose of Bactroban Cream. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Don’t take a double dose, as an overdose may result in side effects that require immediate medical attention. Don’t share Bactroban Cream with others. The use of the cream for a long time may result in the development of new infections like fungal infections. Contact your doctor if you find the symptoms of a new infection during treatment.
You must store Bactroban Cream at room temperature below 25 degrees Celsius. Don’t store it in the bathroom. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Keep the drug away from the reach of children.

- Swelling of the mouth, face and lips
- Severe allergic reactions such as rashes and hives

- Severe itching and irritation
