Description of Bactroban Ointment
Bactroban Ointment is used to treat certain skin infections. It prevents the production of important proteins that are needed for the bacteria to survive. The generic name of the medicine is Mupirocin.
You must consult the doctor before you buy Bactroban Ointment. Before using the ointment, wash and dry the affected area. Apply and rub it in gently so that it spreads evenly. You can cover the affected area with a bandage after administering the ointment. Wash your hands immediately after applying Bactroban Ointment. The ointment is only for external use. Make sure that Bactroban Ointment does not come in contact with your eyes, nose or mouth.
Indications & Dosage of Bactroban Ointment
Bactroban Ointment is an antibacterial drug. It is available in the form of 15 gram and 30 gram tubes.
Bactroban Ointment must be applied on the affected areas three times a day. However, the dosage and duration depends on the medical condition of the patient and his/her response to treatment. You may feel better after using the ointment for a few days. Continue using Bactroban Ointment till the course gets over to ensure the best results. Don’t miss any dose of the ointment; if you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Don’t take a double dose. An overdose may result in side effects that call for immediate medical attention. Don’t share Bactroban Ointment with others. It is only meant for the person for whom it is prescribed. The use of the ointment for a long time may result in the development of new infections like a fungal infection. Contact your doctor if you find any symptoms of a new infection during treatment.
You must store Bactroban Ointment at room temperature below 25 degrees Celsius. Don’t store it in the bathroom. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture, and away from the reach of children and pets.

- Severe irritation and itching
- Severe allergic reaction such as rashes and hives

- Swelling of the mouth, face and lips
