Description of Ddavp Melt

Ddavp Melt is an oral medication with the generic name Lyophilisate. It belongs to a group of medicines known as antidiuretics. Ddavp Melt is available in the form of a tablet for sublingual use (under the tongue). It is supplied in three strengths, Ddavp Melt 60mcg, 120mcg and 240mcg. The drug is a prescription medication, so you need to consult your doctor before you buy Ddavp Melt online.

Indications & Dosage of Ddavp Melt

Ddavp Melt is indicated to control excessive urination at night (known as bedwetting). It is also used to treat diabetes insipidus, a condition where the kidneys are not able to conserve water due to the absence of the antidiuretic hormone. Ddavp Melt is also recommended post-hypophysectomy polyuria/polydipsia. After such surgery, the patient experiences extreme thirst and there is continuous production of large volumes of urine. The drug is specifically prescribed to treat excessive urination that develops after surgical removal of the pituitary gland.

Ddavp Melt affects the kidneys and reduces the amount of urine produced. The medication starts working within an hour, and the effect of the medication may last up to 5-7 hours.

Your doctor will give you specific instructions regarding the dosage. The recommended starting dose of Ddavp Melt is 120mcg, one hour before bedtime. Your doctor may increase the dose up to 360mcg one hour before bedtime depending on the response to treatment.

For the treatment of diabetes insipidus, the recommended dose is 60mcg, 3 times a day. Your doctor may adjust the dosage depending on your response to treatment. In Post-hypophysectomy polyuria/polydipsia, the recommended dose is based on urine concentration.

Side Effects & Interactions of Ddavp Melt

Like all other drugs, Ddavp Melt may also cause mild to severe side effects in some patients. However, not all people who use this medication experience side effects. As a matter of fact, many people who use Ddavp Melt do not complain about any side effects.

The less severe side effects associated with Ddavp Melt include: redness or flushing of the skin, upset stomach (nausea) or stomach cramps. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects become bothersome or stay for a long time.

Some people may also experience severe side effects such as drowsiness, shortness of breath, skin rash, chills, fast heartbeat, confusion, trouble breathing, hives, tightness in the chest, wheezing, or hives. Stop using the medication and consult your doctor if you experience severe side effect after taking a dose of Ddavp Melt.

It may interact with medicines such as Clofibrate, Fludrocortisones, Norepinephrine, Carbamazepine, Loperamide, Lithium, Chlorpromazine, Demeclocycline, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants or diuretics.

Before you buy Ddavp Melt, inform the doctor about every drug you are using, which includes prescription drugs, over the counter medications and herbal supplements.
