Description of Luvox
Luvox, with the generic name Fluxamine, belongs to a class called SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reputake Inhibitors). Its ingredients are: FluxamineMaleate, maize starch, potato starch, sodium stearyl fumarate, titanium dioxide, talc, hypromellose and colloidal anhydrous silica.
You can buy Luvox online in the form of oral tablets that are available in the following strengths: 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg.
Indications & Dosage of Luvox
Luvox is used to treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It is also effective in treating depression, panic disorder and schizophrenia, mood swings, aggression, violent temper, and other such problems in adults. Fluxamine treats depression by preventing an imbalance in neurotransmitters (chemicals)
The recommended initial dose for adults is 50mg. However, it can go to up 300mg/day to achieve better results. Doses of more than 100 mg should be divided.
For children (aged 8 to 17 years), the recommended initial dose is 25 mg per day. It can be increased to 200 mg per day. However, any dose of more than 50 mg should be divided.
Luvox can be administered one or two times a day as prescribed by the doctor. You can take it with or without food. It’s better to store the tablets at room temperature (15-30 degrees Celsius or 59-86 degrees Fahrenheit).
