Description of One Touch Test Strips

One Touch Test Strips are used to measure blood glucose levels. The meter can be used on the forearm, finger and palm.

You can buy One Touch Test Strips from your nearby pharmacy. Read the instructions carefully before administering the strips. If you have any doubt, ask the pharmacist. You will get an owner’s booklet, sterile lancet, lancing device and a optional clear cap in the packet. First select a place to obtain the blood drop. Make sure that the area is away from bones, hair or a visible vein. Wash your hands and the selected area with mild soap and pat it dry. If you have selected fingertip, place the sampler against your fingertip. Press the release button. Gently squeeze the area to obtain one drop of blood. Don’t remove the sampler till you get the drop of blood. Place the blood on the test strip until the confirmation window is full. You will get the blood glucose level in five seconds when the meter starts the countdown from 5 to 1.

Indications & Dosage of One Touch

One Touch is plasma-calibrated and provides results using laboratory methods. An electrical current is produced when the glucose in the blood gets mixed with the components in the test strips. This current is measured by the meter to give a reading. The strength of the current varies as per the level of glucose in the blood.

The measurement range of One Touch is 20 to 600 mg/dL. If you find significant changes in the reading of the glucose level, consult your doctor at the earliest. There will be a warning message on the meter if the blood glucose level is too high. In such cases, get the blood rechecked from a hospital.

You must store One Touch at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep it away from moisture, heat and direct light. Keep it away from the reach of children. Keep the strips in the original vial only. Don’t transfer them before use. If the strip is damaged, don’t use it. After removing the test strip, replace the vial cap immediately and close the bottle tightly. Dispose the strips if they are outdated. Don’t bend or fold the strips. The test strips are for single use only. Throw the strips once they have been used.
