Description of Estring
Estring is a form of estrogen used to treat post menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, burning, itching and dryness in and around the vagina. The generic name of the drug is Estradiol.
You must buy Estring only as per the prescription of the doctor. Read the instructions carefully before using the ring. If you have any doubts, ask your pharmacist or doctor. Wash and dry your hands before administering the drug. Be in a comfortable position with easy access to the vagina while inserting the ring. Hold the ring between the thumb and index fingers and fold it by pressing both the ends together. Gently push the ring into the upper one-third of the vagina. You will not feel Estring once it is placed in a proper position. If you experience any discomfort, gently push the ring further into the vagina. Wash your hands after administering the drug.
Indications & Dosage of Estring
Estring contains estradiol, silicone polymers and barium sulfate, and produces estrogen.
Estring can be kept in the vagina for 90 days. You must remove the ring after 90 days and place a new one. Before removing the ring, wash and dry your hands properly. Be in a comfortable position. You can stand, sit or lie down. Loop your finger through the ring and gently take it out. Discard it in the thrash. Don’t flush it, and make sure that it was disposed well away from the reach of children and pets. You will notice an improvement only after 2-3 weeks of treatment. If the symptoms are not improving, consult your doctor. If you forget to remove Estring after 90 days, contact your doctor immediately.
You must store Estring at room temperature away from heat, direct sunlight and moisture. Open the pouch only a few minutes before use. Make sure that it is kept away from the reach of children.
